An AI skills platform that unifies data, identifies gaps, and tracks growth.

The goal of Degreed Skills+ was to give HR and L&D leaders a reliable way to act on workforce skill data, not just collect it. The product needed to unify fragmented skill information from across an organization's existing HR and learning tech stack, normalize it into a consistent taxonomy, and surface actionable insights that could drive smarter hiring, development, and planning decisions. The broader ambition was to move enterprises from passive skill tracking toward a proactive, skills-first operating model.

Large organizations rarely suffer from a lack of data, they suffer from too much of it, scattered across disconnected systems that don't speak the same language. The design challenge was building an experience that could abstract that complexity without oversimplifying it.
Skills+ needed to serve multiple audiences: L&D teams building learning programs, HR leaders running workforce planning, and executives looking for high-level signal. Each group had different needs, different levels of data fluency, and different definitions of what "skill" even meant in their context. Designing across those gaps, while keeping the product cohesive, was central to every decision.

Skills+ addresses the fragmentation problem at its root by normalizing skill names, descriptions, and proficiency ratings from across an organization's existing platforms, creating a single, coherent view of workforce capability. AI-powered insights surface where the biggest gaps exist, and automated learning journeys connect those gaps directly to relevant content, without requiring manual curation at scale. Analytics across unified skill data sources give leaders the visibility to plan with confidence, while the flexibility to bring in their own taxonomy and systems ensures the product fits the organization, not the other way around.
